Christine M. Howard of 331 Laurel Ave, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at her home following a two-year battle with glioblastoma.
Christine was born November 22, 1976 in Olean and was the daughter of Candee Wright and Steven R. Berg. On August 1, 1998, in Hinsdale she married her loving husband of 25 years, Gregory A. Howard who survives. Their love was an inspiration to all those who knew them, lasting through all the hardships of life, beginning when Christine was just 12 and Gregory was 14 years old.
Christine worked at both Dale Tile and then Home Depot for a period of time but most of all, she raised her sons and made their house a home.
Christine was an incredible daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to all. She loved her dogs, Cricut crafting, and was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan in a house full of Bills fans. But most of all she loved being a mom, attending her boys’ football games, and being known as a fierce mom who made it clear - “don’t mess with her children.” She filled every room with light, with her jokes, beautiful blue eyes, and contagious laugh.
Christine was only 45 years old when she was diagnosed with glioblastoma 27 months ago and given 12-15 months to live. During that time, she survived COVID twice, a pulmonary embolism, a wound infection, and came back from being bedbound several times. She traveled to Georgia to see sea turtles (her love), climbed the “Rocky Steps” in Philadelphia, and was walking 2 miles a day, among other things, just because she could. She was amazing, to say the least.
Along with her husband, Gregory, Christine is survived by: 3 sons, Nicholas Q. Howard of Belmont, Nathan R. Howard of Olean, Noah C. W. Howard stationed in Ft. Bliss, TX; mother Candee (Chris) Hamilton of Black Creek; father Steven R. (Beth) Berg of Moore, SC; sister Kellie (Bill) Newman of Tampa, FL; two brothers Kyle Hamilton of Black Creek and Mason (Krissy) Hamilton of Portville; three nieces, Aubrey (Jason Goluszka) Newman of St. Petersburg, FL, Delaney Newman of Brandon, FL, and Everly Hamilton of Portville, along with many extended family members.
