Charles J. Mansfield Jr. of 1772 Haskell Rd. passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 at Cuba Memorial Hospital. Mr. Mansfield was born on Oct. 26, 1938 in Weston Mills N.Y. and was the son of Charles J. and Margaret Shaffer Mansfield Sr. Mr. Mansfield graduated from Olean High School with the class of 1957. He was an police officer Olean Police Department for 5 years from 1960 to 1965. Mr. Mansfield then moved to California where he worked in auto sales and service. After returning to New York, Mr. Mansfield lived in Hamburg and worked at the truck stop at on Exit 57 for about 10 years before retiring in 1997. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Christopher Columbus Lodge of Olean. Mr. Mansfield is survived by life long friend, Theresa A. Baker of Olean; one son, Charles J. Mansfield III of Canyon Country, CA; two daughters, Hidi (Jeff) Spandri of Palmdale, CA, and Cynthia Ray of Cincinnati, OH; and one sister, Patricia Wood of Olean. Besides his parents he is predeceased by one brother Alan Mansfield. At Mr. Mansfield's request there will be no visitation or services.
