Carol Ann Smucinski of 111 North 9th Street passed away Thursday August 23, 2012 at the Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness.
Carol was born January 23, 1940 in Olean, and she was the daughter of Ralph and Helen Bergreen Fox. On August 26, 1961 in St. John's Church, she married her husband of 51 years, Gerald T. Smucinski, who survives.
Carol was a 1958 graduate of Olean High. She worked at Daystrom from 1959-1961. She later worked at Enchanted Garden Flower Shop from 1984 -1988.
Carol was a member of St. Mary's of the Angels Church in Olean. She was a volunteer for the March of Dimes and The American Heart Association for many years. Carol enjoyed bowling. She was a member of the 600 club, past Secretary for the Gold Cup League and taught Junior Bowling for a number of years. Carol was past President of the PTA at the Ivers J. Norton School, where she also acted as an assistant photographer. She enjoyed cooking. Most of all, Carol loved her husband and family and enjoyed taking care of them.
Along with her loving husband, Carol is survived by one son, Terrance J. (Michele) Smucinski of Olean; one daughter, Melissa C. (Eric) Froebel of Suwanee, GA; and ten grandchildren, Benjamin, Bailey, Brianna, Braeden, Bridgette, and Beckley Froebel, Ashley L. Maynard, Gerald J. Maynard, Forrest R. Smucinski and Matthew J. Maynard.
Carol was predeceased by her parents and an infant brother Roy Fox in 1946.
Friends will be received Sunday Aug. 26, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean where Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at 11:00 am. The Rev. James Vacco, Pastor of St. Bonaventure Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany.
