Carl M. Timme of 532 Third Ave. Passed away on Saturday Sept. 1, 2012 in the Olean General Hospital following lengthy illness.
Carl was born in Olean, on May 20, 1920 and was a son of Carl F. & Rose Joans Timme. On February 23, 1945 At St. Mary's Church he married Clarice Polen who survives.
Carl served in the US Army during WWII Sept. 17, 1942 to Dec. 19, 1945. While in the Army he received the European-Africa-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and the WWII Victory Medal.
Carl was an auto body repairman for about 40 years before his retirement in the early 1980's. He worked for a number of local body shops in the area and for him self out of his own garage. Carl also enjoyed history both American and his family history. He was a member of St. John's Church.
Carl was active in both the Olean VFW and Hinsdale American Legion, and he was active in the VFW's Drum & Bugle Corp. in the 1950s. He also belonged to the Olean Stamp Club & Olean Historical Society.
Besides his loving wife of 67 years, Carl is survived by two daughters, Mary L. (Rodrick) McConnell of Bath, NY, and Linda A. (Larry) Harman of Portville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Carl was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen D. Farwell; one brother, Maynard Timme; and one sister, Mary Meiers.
Friends will received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 East State Street on Tues. Sept. 4, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm & 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday Sept. 5, 2012 beginning with a prayer service in the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Johns Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward. Sheedy officiating. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor with Allegany American Legion providing full military honors.
