Carl S. Snyder, of 1665 Goodrich Ave., passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Carl was born July 14, 1941 in Olean and was a son of Charles W. and Ruth I. Martin Snyder. On June 10, 1967 at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean, he married his wife of 48 years, Margaret L. Shawl, who survives.
Carl graduated from Olean High School in 1960. He attended the Devry Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL, where he received an associate's degree. Carl served in the US Army from May 3, 1963 to Aug. 24, 1970. He worked at ACME Electronics, the Olean Times Herald in the Circulation Department, and Dexter Hysol, where he retired from. After Carl retired he worked for True Value and the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home.
Carl was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. He was involved with Boy Scouts and was a DeMolay Chapter Dad. Carl was a member of Kiwanis Club, the White Shriners, Jamestown Consistory, Olean Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriner Club, and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #84.
Along with his loving wife, Carl is survived by his daughter, Lorraine (Jacquline Bush) Snyder; his son, Carl Snyder, Jr.; his grandson, Matthew Snyder; his two sisters, Sylvia Fessenden and Linda Giardini; and his brother, Roger (Carol) Snyder.
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Ruth Snyder.
Friends will be received Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Members of the Enchanted Mountains Lodge #252 F&AM will conduct a Masonic Memorial service at the Funeral Home Friday evening at 7:30 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Kim Rossi, Rector of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
