Carl Sandlin of 8619 County Road 49, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in the Comfort House of Allegany County in Wellsville.
Carl was born on May 31, 1929 in New Castle, Indiana and was a son of Asbury and Minta Patton Sandlin. On April 15, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY he married Ida Mae "Jackie" Fugate, who pre-deceased him on July 4, 1980.
Carl was a graduate of the North Vernon High School in Indiana. He was a very proud man with values who serviced his country in the US Marines during WWII from Sept. 15, 1945 to Nov. 2, 1946. After WWII he moved to Niagara Falls and worked at Union Carbide for over 30 years as an Electrician, retiring in 1982. In the mid 1980's he moved to Rushford. Carl was truly an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting & fishing, guns, gardening and camping. He was a member of the Cuba American Legion, Cuba AMVET and Cuba VFW.
Surviving Carl are a daughter, Patricia "Sue" (Charles "Tim") Weed of Rushford; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Ronald LaGamba of Albion; three brothers, Eugene & Paul Sandlin both of Indiana, and Asbury Sandlin of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was pre-deceased by two daughters, Helen J. (Carol) Thompson in 1994, and Nancy E. LaGamba in 2011.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at which time Funeral and Committal Services will be held. The Rev. Les E. Chamber, Pastor of the West Clarksville Baptist Church, will officiate. Members of the Cuba American Legion Post 655 will conduct a Flag Presentation Ceremony. Burial will be in the Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston, NY.
