Hinsdale – Bruce A. “Homer” Walters "Retired Owner of the Parkwood"
Bruce A. “Homer” Walters of 4381 Gile Hollow Road, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Olean General Hospital following an illness.
Homer was born on November 22, 1951 in Olean and was a son of Jack Hugh and Betty Jane Besok Walters. He was a 1969 graduate of Olean High School. Homer worked at Dresser Rand for about 5 years before purchasing the Parkwood Bar on East State Street from Bob Zimmerman in 1985, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2012.
Homer was an avid archer and enjoyed bowling, golf, boating, darts, and fishing. He was also an avid Saints fan. In addition to all of his achievements and talents, the thing that Homer excelled at the most was being a proud and loving father. He never missed a ceremony or sporting event for either of his two sons. Homer went above and beyond to make every birthday and holiday extra special for them.
Homer is survived by; 2 sons, Thomas M. Walters and Jack A. Walters both of Olean, 4 sisters, Bonnie Seth and Jackie (Bob) Wiley both of Olean, Linda Corell of Mayville, and Sandy Robinson of Portville; a sister-in-law, Ann Walters of Mayville; and many nieces and nephews.
Homer was predeceased by his parents and a brother, David Walters in 2019.
