Olean- Bobby E. Scott
Bobby E. Scott, CWO-3 US Army Ret. of Davis Road, Glenwood, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Olean General Hospital.
Bobby was born on April 24, 1934 in Columbus, GA and was the son of Eugene and Dora Richards Scott. On September 24th, 1955 in Phoenix City, Alabama he married Florence E. Ursoy, who predeceased him.
Bob attended Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia. At the age of 16, Bob enlisted in the US Navy and spent his 17th and 18th birthday in Korea while serving his country. After returning home and marrying his loving wife he enlisted in the US Army in 1956. During his time in the Army, Bob was a top-rated helicopter pilot flying on hundreds of missions in South Korea and Vietnam, including piloting for Vice President Spiro Agnew. Bob earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses, Meritorious Service Award, and the Broken Wing Award for safely landing a training helicopter after losing its tail rotor as a flight instructor. Upon his return to the United States, he became a flight instructor while living at Fort Wolters base in Mineral Wells, Texas until his retirement on August 1, 1972. Bob owned a DuraClean franchise in Olean and became an executive at headquarters in Chicago, Illinois for a few years before moving to West Palm Beach, Florida. While in Florida Bob owned a paint and carpet store for several years before moving to Fort Worth outside of Dallas, Texas where he worked for Pitney Bowes until his full retirement in the early 2000s.
Bob attended Basilica of St. Mary of Angels and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.
Bob is survived by his four children, Jon M. (Debra) Scott of Glenwood, AR, Clyde E. (Linda) Scott of Austin, TX, Joni M. Faulkner of Olean, Jana E. Valentine Wilson of Beaumont, TX, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, four siblings, Ann Lefebvre, Beatrice Simmons, Cary Scott, Zachary Scott, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Florence on January 24, 2019, and siblings Adele Weber, Andrew Scott, Betty Quinn, Clyde Marion, David Scott, Edgar Scott, Gene Scott, Clinton Scott, and Lucille Orr Allard.
