Portville- Betty Marie “Gram” Wesley
Betty Marie Wesley of 1736 Happy Hollow Road, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Olean General Hospital.
Betty was born on May 6, 1930 in Olean and was a daughter of Robert John and Kathleen Wood Handley. On August 11, 1951 she married the love of her life Louie R. Wesley who predeceased her on May 3, 1998.
Betty was a class of 1946 graduate of Olean High School. She worked at Dresser Clark in Olean where she was an accounts receiving supervisor. After retiring Betty was a volunteer for Meals On Wheels at the Portville location for many years.
Betty was a member of the Order of the Amaranth for 63 years and was a Past Royal Matron. She was also a life long member of the St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Olean. Betty was an avid Yankees and Bills fan. She loved spending time at Rushford Lake with her family and friends and watching her grand and great grandchildren play sports. Betty enjoyed crocheting, knitting and her weekly euchre games.
Betty is survived by; her dearly beloved poodle, Chloe, 2 children, Robert (Margo) Wesley of Chuckey, TN and Susan (William) Yehl of Portville; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Yehl, Robert Wesley, Amber (Pat) Dougherty, Jacob Yehl, and Colton Yehl; 8 great grandchildren, Michaela Yehl, Mitchell Yehl, Maxwell Yehl, Celeste Wesley, Jaxxen Yehl, Liam Dougherty, Tessa Dougherty, and Piper Dougherty.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday, October 14, 2022 at the St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 109 S Barry Street at 11:00 am which time a funeral service will be held.
