Barry D. Tyler of 135 North 5th Street, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 while at work from an apparent heart attack.
Barry was born May 10, 1961, and he was a son of Emmett & Nancy Wood Tyler. On June 16, 1998, he married his loving wife, Alma P. Caraway, who survives.
Barry is a graduate of Kendrick High School in Columbus, Georgia class of 1978. He served in the United States Marines for 4 years from Sept. 8, 1978 to Sept. 7, 1982. He drove truck for various companies including Boyd Brothers and Burdett Trucking in Phoenix City, Alabama. Barry moved to New York and continued driving truck for Metal Transportation of Oswego until 2007 at which time he began driving bus for First Transit in Olean. Barry's true love was driving truck over the road. He also enjoyed watching football but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his wife, Alma.
Surviving besides his wife of almost 14 years are his mother, Nancy Tyler of Columbus, Georgia; three sons, William Joseph Phillips of Alden, NY, William Jay Phillips of Phoenix City, AL, and Jimmy Ray Dubberly of Bain Bridge, Georgia; two daughters, Patricia A. Kessler of Olean, and Pamela A. (Ronald) Homuth, Sr. of Cuba; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Barbara) Tyler of Columbus, Georgia; one sister, Jackie Butler of Columbus, Georgia; and two nephews.
Barry was predeceased by his father, Emmett Tyler in 2009; and a brother, Rick Tyler in May of 2010.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Chuck Main, Pastor of the House of Restoration, will officiate.
