Olean – Arthur R. Auman "Loving Father & Grandfather"
Arthur R. Auman, formerly of 307 West Green Street, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the Absolut of Allegany.
Arthur was born on December 20, 1928 in Olean, NY and was a son of Philip Joseph and Margaret Marie Heiberger Auman. In 1954 he married his wife of 57 years, Charlotte L. Lindermoth, who predeceased him on April 15, 2005.
Arthur was a life-long resident of Olean. He enlisted in the US Army from November 24, 1950 to November 26, 1952. Arthur worked for North American Van Lines for several years and then for Market Basket for a couple of years before he and his brother Donald started Auman Brothers Roofing, where he retired in 1999. After his retirement, he went back to work for Alle-Catt Taxi, with his son Mike, right up until about a year ago when he had a stroke.
Arthur was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. He enjoyed St. Bonaventure Basketball games, the Buffalo Bills, hunting, country music, and working on his lawn, where he grew roses in his backyard.
Arthur is survived by; 2 sons, Michael P. Auman and Arthur J. Auman both of Olean; a daughter, Mary M. (Phil) Auman-Snyder of Florida; 4 grandchildren, Jamie, Daniel, Amanda, and Zachary; 3 great grandchildren, Marion, Mason, and Vincent; and a brother Robert Auman of Charlotte, NC.
Along with his loving wife, Arthur was predeceased by, 2 sons, Mark A. Auman on March 10, 2019 and an infant son, Matthew Auman; and 3 siblings, Geraldine Auman, Thomas Auman in 1964, and Donald Auman.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc.,646 East State Street, Olean, on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels at 10:00 am. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany, NY. Full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892 Ritual Team.
