Anthony J. Rovito Sr. of 117 North 5th Street passed away Sunday August 24, 2008 at home.
Mr. Rovito was born on June 16, 1925 in Bradford and was the son of Fiore and Rose Nepher Rovito. On January 11, 1945 in Bradford P.A. he married Mary Ann Corignani who predeceased him on September 6, 1984.
Mr. Rovito was a 1943 graduate of Bradford High school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Rovito worked for Bradford Supply, Market Basket then FM Flickinger. He began working at for BOCES in 1972 until his retirement in 1995 as the Business Manager.
Mr. Rovito enjoyed traveling and good food. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, St. Bonaventure Basketball and the Buffalo Bills football. Mr. Rovito was a life long member of St. Mary of the Angels Church.
Mr. Rovito was survived by two sons, Anthony J. Rovito Jr. of Olean and Dino J. (Diana) Rovito of Reston, Va.; two daughters, Helen M. Rovito of Rockville, MD. and Rose M. (Douglas) Snyder of Afton, NY; eight grandchildren, Simon Rovito, Christopher Rovito, Sarah Dodson Sedlak, Jennifer Rovito, Stephanie Rovito, Nicholas Snyder, Jacob Snyder, and Parker Snyder; three great-grandchildren, Rhys Rovito, Ruby Rovito, and Olive Sedlak; Fianc�, Mary Sullivan of Olean; two brothers, Francis (Judy) Rovito and Richard (Mary) Rovito, both of Bradford; and many nieces & nephews.
Mr. Rovito was pre-deceased by a brother Bruno Rovito and a sister Mary Ann Polumbo.
Friends will be received today from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 beginning with a prayer service in the funeral home at 9:30 AM followed by a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
