Alexandra M. Rinker Schramling

Mrs. Alexandra M. Rinker of 650 Genesee Street, Olean, formerly of South Street in Cuba for 61 years, passed away Monday June 29, 2009 at Olean General Hospital. Mrs. Rinker was born on April 26, 1918 in Erie PA and was the daughter of George and Mary Chronis Strigler. In 1939 she married Anthony Micros, who predeceased her in 1962. She married Howard Rinker in 1965, who predeceased her in1980. In 1984 Mrs. Rinker married Ed Schramling, who survives. Mrs. Rinker is a graduate of Corry High School, Corry PA. She loved Shakespeare, dancing and music of the 1930's &1940's. She also enjoyed watching old movies and reading mystery novels. "Alice" was a beautiful and courageous woman with a zest for life. She had a favorite quotation by John Donne: "Death, be not proud, though some have called thee Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;... One short sleep past, we wake eternally, And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die." Surviving Mrs. Rinker besides her kind and gentle husband "Eddie" are a son, George A. (Susan) Micros of Olean; a daughter, Marianne F. Micros (Tim) Struthers of Guelph, Ontario Canada; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mrs. Rinker was predeceased by a daughter, Joan Micros Turek; two brothers, John and Gus Strigler; and a sister, Florence Flood. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 24 Genesee Parkway, Cuba, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday (July 11, 2009) from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held. The Rev. Philip Houghton, rector of St. Sephens Episcopal Church of Olean will officiate. Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cuba Circulating Library and the Cuba Episcopal Church.
