Olean- Ada M. Elwell “Loving Mother & Grandmother”

Ada M. Elwell of 116 N. 12^th Street, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2022 at her home.

Ada was born on January 1, 1939 in Batavia and was the daughter of Kenneth and Marion Munt Richardson.  On August 30, 1957 in Stone Church in Bergen she married the love of her life Charles Elwell  who predeceased her on July 4, 2017.

Ada was a 1956 graduate of Bergen High School.  She obtained her associates degree from JCC in Olean at the age of 47 years old.  Ada became a farmer’s wife and her husband became a minister.  She became a pastors wife serving in 4 different congregations being in Salamanca for over 30 years.  Ada and her husband were founders of the Valley Christian Assembly.  She worked as a CVS Pharmacy Tech before going to work at BOCES in Olean for about 10 years until her retirement in 2004.

Ada was a member of the Valley Christian Assembly of Salamanca.  She loved Boston Terriers which she had many of.  Ada enjoyed traveling and making fantastic desserts.  She was a New York Yankees fan and attended their games annually.  Most of all her family whom she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.

Ada is survived by; 3 children, Deborah L. (Fred) Davis of Kill Buck, Cheryl A. (Robert) Grant of Salamanca and Thomas E. Elwell of Olean; 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Angelina, Charles and Marie-Louis; 3 great grandchildren, Henry, Emma and Caeb; a brother, Jack E. (Gloria) Richardson of Bergen and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband of 59 years, Charles, Ada was predeceased by her parents; a brother, William Thomas Richardson and her sister, Eloise Marion Mignano.

A Memorial Service will be held at Valley Christian Church, 132 Prospect Ave, Salamanca, NY 14779 on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 4:00pm.  The Rev. Fred T. Davis will officiate.
