Sister Jean Paul Bryan

Born: Mary Augusta Bryan on June 15, 1916 in Westbrook, Maine. Died: October 14, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany, New York. Daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Welch Bryan. She was received into the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, New York at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on August 15, 1942, and professed her final religious vows on August 16, 1949. Sister Jean Paul faithfully lived the Mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany for over 65 years. She attended grade and high schools in Westbrook, Maine. Sister received her Bachelor and Master's Degrees from St. Bonaventure University. From 1943 to 1970 Sister Jean Paul ministered in the field of education in schools in Maine, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. She then pursued certification in Medical Records and for the next 20 years ministered at St. Francis Hospital in Miami Beach Florida. Sister retired to St. Elizabeth Convent in Tampa Florida in 1993 and in 2005 joined the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse community. Sister Jean Paul is predeceased by her parents and a brother William Bryan. She is survived by a brother, Forrest Bryan and a cousin, Sister Rose Therese Shaw, OSF. A Wake Service is scheduled at 4:00 p.m., October 19, 2009 in the Chapel at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., in the Chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on October 20, 2009, followed by burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, New York. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 East State Street, Olean, New York.
