Shirley Jeanne Smith

Shirley Jeanne Smith, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Springwood Care Center, following an illness. Shirley was born June 28, 1930 in Olean and was a daughter of Arlie and Carolyn Sassmon Kreamer. In 1951, she married David E. Wing, who predeceased her on Jan. 25, 1965. In 1975, she married Don Bliss, who predeceased her on April 19, 1990. On April 25, 1995, she married Elmo Smith who predeceased her Feb. 18, 2015. Shirley graduated from Olean High School in 1948 and before she began working attended Olean Business Institute. She worked for Blue Bird Bus Company for about 10 years, then she worked on the family farm. Shirley also sold Avon, worked at the snack bar at K-Mart, and at the Holiday Inn for short periods of time. She moved to Brevard, NC in 1989. Shirley is survived by seven children, Timothy A. Wing of Hinsdale, Daniel L. Wing of Rosemount, MN, Barbara C. Walker of Olean, Peter J. (Sharon) Wing of Forest, VA, Aaron P. Wing of Watertown, SD, Kathy L. (James Powers) Wing of Lexington, NC, and Sarah J. Simihtsi of Mt. Airy, NC; three stepchildren, Alyce Wojcik of Buffalo, NC, Virgil Bliss of Lenoir, NC, and Amy (Ben) Henderson of Charlotte, NC; 14 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Henry of Vista, CA; and several nieces & nephews. Along with her husbands, Shirley was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Karen Haskins. A Graveside Service will be held at the Hinsdale Cemetery, on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 3:00 pm. The Rev. Peter J. Wing, her son, and the Rev. Terry L. Jenks, pastor of the Hinsdale Methodist Church, will co-officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E.
