Shelvy J. Beaver of 2058 Wolf Creek Rd., Cuba, died Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Olean General Hospital, following a short illness.
Shelvy was born October 19, 1937 in Gowanda and was the daughter of Thelma M. Quattrone. On May 18, 1984 she married Paul F. Beaver, who survives. Shelvy attended school in Cottage and Gowanda, graduating in 1954. She worked for New York Telephone (later Verizon Communications) for 30 years, retiring in 1998 as a supervisor.
Shelvy attended various Christian Churches in the area. She was a member of the former Allegany Full Gospel Church. Shelvy enjoyed bowling, dancing and playing euchre with her family and friends. In later years, she enjoyed occasional trips to the casino. Shelvy had a firm and constant belief in love and loyalty to her family.
Along with her loving husband, Shelvy is survived by her daughters, Roberta A. Noll and Rebecca J. (Todd) Becker both of Olean; her son, Charles D. (Michelle) Bennett of Hinsdale; seven grandchildren, Janelle S. (Bo) Preston, Brooke T. (Gary) Fusco, Brandon C. LaBorde, Joel A. Pratz, Derrick C. (Alicia) LaBorde, Andrew G. LaBorde, and Samantha Bennett; eight great grandchildren, Corey L. (Clarissa) Bennett, Casey A. Cummings, Kelsey J. (Charleston Gilkey) Cummings, Colby L. Cummings, Evan L. Fusco, Cameron D. LaBorde, Elijah L. LaBorde, and Sophia S. LaBorde; five great great grandchildren, Caiden J. Passmore, Corey J. Bennett, Jr., Lilly A. Miller, Presley N. Gilkey, and Kensington R. Gilkey; two sisters, Jackie J. Bunker of Erie, PA,and Monda B. (George) Hatch of Custer City, PA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shelvy was predeceased by her daughter, Theresa L. Noll on Nov. 24, 1975; two sons, Infant Bennett on May 31, 1961 and Richard C. Bennett on April 8, 1962; her mother, Thelma M. Quattrone on Feb. 15, 2009; her sister, Patsy L. Ahrens on Nov. 2, 2010; her great granddaughter, Kylie J. Cummings on June 8, 1994; and her grandparents, Robert I. and Clara A. Bell.
Friends will be received, at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State St., Olean, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at which time a funeral service will be held. Gary L.
