Mary K. Greenawalt

Mary K. Greenawalt of 1130 MacDuffie Drive, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5th 2017 in the Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by her loving husband and family following an apparent heart attack. Mary was born on Sept. 26, 1942 in Coudersport, Pa, and was a daughter of Edward and Greta Taubert Gillon. On Dec. 28, 1963 in Coudersport she married her loving husband of 53 years Charles A. Greenawalt who survives. After graduating from Coudersport High School in 1960 Mary worked at the State Hospital in North Warren, Pa. for a couple of years. And after moving to Olean she began working at Olean General Hospital in 1972 first as a nurses aid and then later becoming an ICU Monitor Technician. She retired 32 years later in 2004. Mary enjoyed listening and going to country and western music concerts. She also enjoyed bird watching and feeding the birds. Mary's true love was her family. She loved spending time (Or rather "Doting") on them, especially her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye. She was a member of the Olean General Hospital Retirees and liked going to the annual Strawberry Festival. Surviving besides her husband are two children, Lori B. Greenawalt and Mark E. (Heather) Greenawalt both of Hinsdale; four grandchildren, Andrew C., Noah A., Alli R. & Jonah M. Greenawalt; three sisters, Jean L. Chuvala of NC, JoAnne "Joey" (Milton) Freeman of Coudersport, PA, and Georgiana Kiely of NJ; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State St., Olean, on Tuesday Jan. 10, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Vicky Hedlund will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hinsdale Fire Department. Online condolences may be made by clicking the button above.
