LuAnn M. Specht (Mooney), passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after battling a rare and progressive neurological disease (MSA).
LuAnn was born on June 5, 1956 in Springville and was the daughter of the late Louis F. and Ruth E. Johnson Specht.
LuAnn was a 1974 graduate of Richburg Central School. She studied Business Administration at Jamestown Community College. In the 1970's, she was the Secretary for the Conservative Party of Allegany County. LuAnn worked for AVX Ceramics from 1979-1981, and she worked at Key Bank from 1981-1987.
LuAnn was employed for 21 years (1987-2008) at the Olean Area Federal Credit Union as their Mortgage Coordinator.
LuAnn was a passionate advocate for children's education serving on the Richburg Central School Board from 1987-1992. During her term, she served both as Vice-President and President. She also acted as President for the Richburg Central School Alumni Association. LuAnn was devoted to her community as an active member of the Bolivar Lioness Club. She was also a faithful member of St. Mary's Church.
LuAnn enjoyed shopping as well as socializing, sewing, crafting, working, walking and life itself. She had a true love for God and Jesus Christ. LuAnn was an exceptional mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Every moment she shared with them was special to her.
LuAnn is survived by her three children; daughters Stacy L. Faulkner and Shawn M. (Jamie) Faulkner Crandall and son, David J. (Katie) Faulkner. She also had six grandchildren; Brockton, Zachary, Allyson, Landon, Easton and Ayla; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Creighton R. Specht and step- brother, Leo A. Trahan as well as her step-mother Flossia P. Trahan Specht.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 beginning with a prayer service in the Funeral Home at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in the S. Matthews Cemetery, West Seneca, NY.
