Born Edwin "Ed" Snyder, 80, of 2795 Five Mile Road, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Olean General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born on April 22, 1935 in Franklinville and was a son of Paul and Azeltha Hatch Snyder. On Oct. 29, 1955 in Olean, he married his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth M. DeMart, who survives. Ed worked for 28 years for the City of Olean and retired in 1992. He enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ed also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his beagle dogs. Along with his loving wife, Ed is survived by four sons, Paul (Ellen) Snyder of Olean, Frank (Dawn) Snyder of Allegany, Robert (Diann) Snyder of Olean, and Joe (Annie) Snyder of Olean; a daughter, Virginia (James) MacNeal of Portville; 13 Grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, Dawn, Ian, Mike, Edwin IV, Ronnie, Megan, Ilyssa, Samantha, Aimee, Myrissa, Cody, and Dylan; 11 great grandchildren, Jamason, Brayden, Allie-Ann, Lillian, Wyatt, Bently, Oakley, Trenten, Cody, and Haley; five sisters, Ellouise Etheridge of Arizona, Marlyn Boyer of Ferndale, Vernan (George) Chapin of Crester, Regina Lopez of California, and Rosezelta Bush of Oregon; and three brothers, Roy McMurtry of California, Richard McMurtry of Ferndale, and Robert McMurtry of Bellingham. Ed was predeceased by his parents; a son, Edwin K. Snyder, III in 1990; two sisters, Louise Dieter and Ruth Carter; a brother; two brothers-in-law, Perry DeMart and Norman Mitchell; and a sister-in-law, Madeline Mitchell. There will be no Public Visitation. A Memorial Service will held in the future at a date and time to be announced.
