Edward S. Zalwsky, III, of 2041 Wolf Creek Rd., Cuba, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Buffalo, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, August 23, 2014.
Ed was born Nov. 1, 1979 in Olean and was a son of Stanley M. and Muriel D. Blade Zalwsky. On Feb. 21, 2004, at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean he married, Melanie R. Welty, who survives.
Ed graduated from Olean High School and BOCES in 1998. He worked for M & H Manufacturing in Cuba and then Allegheny-Bradford Company for about 14 years as a welder.
Ed enjoyed working on anything including being a mechanic. He was also Certified Pyrotechnic and enjoyed building fireworks. Ed loved being outdoors, riding go carts and fishing with his daughter, Caydence. He also loved riding four wheelers and his motorcycle, and going snowmobiling. Ed was a member of the Portville Sons of the American Legion.
Ed is survived by his maternal grandmother, Geraldine H. Blade of Salamanca; his father, Stanley M. Zalwsky of Olean; his mother & stepfather, Muriel D. (Pastor Robert) Howard of Olean; two daughters, McKenzi R. Welty & Caydence V. Zalwsky; five siblings, Stacy M. (Andrew) Penird of Olean, Sarah L. (Mark McKetish) Zalwsky of Olean, Terry L. Howard of Bradford, PA, Elizabeth M. (Scott) Lemmer of Rush, and Robert O. (Jaicianne Tingley) Howard of Olean; God Parents, John Wisniewski & Kathleen Lawton; 11 nieces & nephews; many aunts & uncles including his Uncle, Eric Blade of Marriottsville, MD; many cousins; and best friend, "Jud".
Ed is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Stanley & Stella Spenik Zalwsky; his maternal grandfather, Thomas A. Blade; and a special "Grandmother", Pauline P. Sunderlin.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015, beginning in the Funeral Home with prayers at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will celebrate. Burial will be at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Allegany.
