Doris M. Wojtanik, of 500 Spring Aspen Manor, formerly of South 11th Street, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 in the Cuba Memorial Hospital Palliative Care unit.
Doris was born May 15, 1924 in Buffalo and was a daughter of William and Ester Lauffer Fox. On Sep. 21, 1946, at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Buffalo she married her husband, Joseph R. Wojtanik, who predeceased her on May 3, 1964.
Doris was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Den Mother and she volunteered for Grandparent Readers for many years. She was long time and a very active member of the Christ United Methodist Church. Doris loved her family and enjoyed taking an active roll in her family lives, especially her Grandchildren's lives. Doris enjoyed baking, crossword puzzles, and crocheting and was specifically known for her afghans, slippers, and doilies. She never end a conversation without saying "Be careful & I love you"
Doris is survived by three sons, John A. (Katheryn) Wojtanik of Olean, Thomas J. (Patty Calanni) Wojtanik of Olean, and Jerry M. (Annette Ford) Wojtanik of Port Allegany; three daughters, Kathleen M. (Michael) Neu of Cuba, Maryellen E. (Matthew) Long of Milford, CT, and Vivian L. (Donald) Mallery of Olean; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Hiller of Arcade.
Along with her loving husband, Doris was predeceased by one brother, Kenneth Fox on Nov. 28, 1995; and one sister, Maria E. Slattery.
Friends will be received on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at which time Funeral and Committal Services will be held. The Rev. Suzanne M. Block, Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
