David W. Scott formerly of 4169 Gile Hollow Road & Cuba Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the Olean General Hospital. Mr. Scott was born March 18, 1923 in Hinsdale he was a son of Miner and Marjorie Witter Scott. Mr. Scott was a graduate of Hinsdale High School Class of 1941. He attended Alfred University until his enlistment in the US Air Force during WWII from Nov. 12, 1942 until April 4, 1946. Following the war, Mr. Scott worked for a number of places including Daystroms Furniture and later for 20 years at ACME first in Allegany and then in Cuba until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Scott attended Hinsdale Baptist Church. He was long time members of both the Hinsdale Fire Department and the Hinsdale American Legion. Mr. Scott enjoyed working on cars, woodworking and walking. Surviving Mr. Scott are three sons, Jerry (Ellen) Scott of Cuba, Mike Scott of Rock City, and Kevin (Lori) Scott of Rochester, New Hampshire; two daughters, Karen P. (Guy) Bennett of Olean, and Danice (Jim) Galloway of Rock City; and many grand and great grandchildren. Mr. Scott was pre-deceased by two brothers Howard & Richard Scott and two sisters Anne Scott and Thelma Robertson. As per Mr. Scott request there will be no public visitation or funeral. Burial will be in the Hinsdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hinsdale Fire Department. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. On line condolences may be made by clicking on the above button.
