Darlene M. Fusiara, of 503 North 8th Street, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Darlene was born Jan. 3, 1958 in Olean and was a daughter of George F. and Regina Schindler Hill. She was formerly married to Joseph John Fusiara.
Darlene was a 1976 graduate of Olean High School. She worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Pines Health & Rehab in Olean for a number of years in the 1980's. Darlene worked at Walmart for about 2 years as a cashier. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church. Darlene enjoyed fishing, nature, football, and NASCAR. Her true passion was the Franklinville VFW Auxiliary, where she was a life member. She was also a past president, past county president and was a color bearer for the NYS VFW.
Darlene is survived by her mother, Regina Hill of Olean; three children, Raymond G. Shaffer, Jr. of Machias, Diana M. Shaffer of Hinsdale, and John J. Fusiara of Cuba; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Martha A. Hill, and Karen M. Babcock both of Olean; four stepsiblings, Victoria, William, Caroline, & Arnold; and her loving companion, Burton "Skip" Little, with whom she lived.
Darlene was predeceased by her father, George F. Hill in 2000; an infant daughter, Savannah Babcock; and a brother, John L. Hill in 2008.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, On Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2015 beginning in the Funeral Home with prayers at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will celebrate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
