Olean - Clarence Williams “Beloved Son, Brother, Father, Cousin, and Uncle”
Clarence Williams, of 102 W. Spring Street, passed away on Tuesday, November 29th, 2021 at the Olean General Hospital following an illness.
Clarence Williams was born on February 23rd, 1934 in Quitman, GA to Willie Mae Ivery and Rufus Spencer. In 1998 he married his wife Barbara Sledge in Elkland, PA.
Clarence was educated in the Pennsylvania school systems. After high school he joined the US Air Force on April 24th, 1952. While in the military he took up a passion for culinary arts was a short order cook. He also received a National Defense Service Metal. Clarence was honorably discharged from the Air Force on March 26th, 1956. Later in life he relocated to Rochester and took up an occupation as a forklift driver.
They moved to Olean where they became part of the Olean family. Clarence became “Mr. C” with his infamous smile when he worked at Walmart as a greeter.
Clarence gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was faithful and an active member of CWOW. Clarence LOVED spending time with family an friends. He loved to tell stories and have great debates. He loved fishing, cooking the fish he caught, and watching Western movies. He spent his free time at the Hall of Fame Barber shop where he would teach you a thing or two. But most of all, Clarence loved his Pittsburg Steelers.
He leaves to cherish in his memory, sisters Rosie Westbrook and Ruth, brother Rufus Spencer. Children Marc Ellis (Danielle) Eric Williams Sr. (Beth) Eric Stamps (Lashanda) Shannon Cook, Erica Williams, Nikeia Dukes and Shalonda Dukes. Grandchildren, Veronica, Katlyn, Eric II, Desmond, Madison, Sharnae, DeMar, Eric Jr., Ericka, Eri’on, Taylor, Jaxsyn, Shauiana, Corey Jr. Joshua, Alexis, Zion, Shakia, and Taron, 10 great grandchildren, special niece Cynthia Pines, special friends Mary Burns, Tyron Hall, Ta-shana Gayton-Newton, Sir William and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.
Also preceding him is his wife, Barbara Sledge Williams, and brothers; James Miller and Emery Williams.
Friends will be received at the John J. Ash Community Center, 112 N. Barry Street, Olean on Friday, December 10th, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at which time funeral services will be held at 3:00pm with The Rev. Tyrone Hall, Pastor of Church Without Walls will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel 892 Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Elkland, PA.
