Burton A. Herrington of 8004 Stewart Road passed away Sunday March 2, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Burton was born July 15, 1942 in Belmont and was a son of Edward A. and Auta L. Cline Herrington. On June 24, 1966 at the Church of the Nazarene in Olean, he married his wife of 47 years, Carol A. Finch, who survives.
Burton was a Viet Nam veteran serving in the Army from 1964 to 1966. He worked for Dresser Rand of Olean for 39 years retiring in 2005. Burton was a member of the St. Stephens Club, the Union Local #4601, NYS Steam and Gas Engine Club, and a former member of the Cuba American Legion. He enjoyed working on antique cars, especially his 1949 Ford, hunting, and Hit and Miss engines. Burton took great joy in his family particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren along with his dog, "Bunny".
Along with his loving wife, Burton is survived by three sons, Michael (Sherri) Herrington of Schuyler, VA, Mark (Carly) Herrington of Bolivar, and Matthew (Bobbie Jo) Herrington of Pine City; two daughters, Michelle (Timothy) Mascho of West Clarksville, and Marsha (Jeffrey) Cwiklinski of Friendship; 20 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Herrington of Sanborn, and William Herrington of Byron; one sister, Shirley Nelson of Port Angeles, Washington; and several nieces & nephews.
Burton was predeceased by his parents; and an infant daughter, Melissa Herrington in 1985.
Friends will be received on Wednesday evening, March 5, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 East State Street, Olean, N.Y. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Leslie E. Chambers, pastor of West Clarksville Baptist Church, will officiate.
