John W. Prince

John W. Prince of 1334 Snyder Road, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 in the Jones Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife and family. John was born on July 25, 1961 in Dunkirk and was the son of John W. and Lucille St. George Prince, Sr. John learned his work ethic early on from working on his family's grape farm. He was a natural athlete and enjoyed recreational sports including volleyball and swimming. John was a graduate of Brocton High School. He received the Lord as His Savior while attending Bethany Summer Camp his Jr. Year and was determined to serve Him for the rest of his life. He was encouraged by his Pastor, Larry Morrison (Brocton Baptist Church), to attend Davis College to further his desire to serve God and then finished his Bachelors Degree in 1985 at Liberty University. On June 4, 1983 in the Whitney Point Baptist Church, he married the love of his life Sola C. Corbett, who survives. After graduation John was called to the Alfred-Almond Bible Church where he has been for the past .32 years. He first served as Youth Pastor and then as Senior Pastor. John was dedicated to his calling, the church. He was a avid student of Scripture, preparing messages that would spiritually feed the congregation. He was a man that was known to be a committed counselor and one who lived by his goal, "to finish strong." his life verse Rom. 14:7,8. John was also a family man who truly loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He cherished spending time with them and anticipated yearly beach vacations in Ocean City, N.J. Surviving besides his loving wife of 34 years are his parents, John and Lucille Prince of Fredonia; his paternal grandfather, Raymond O. Prince of Fredonia; seven children, Ashly (Patrick) Palmer of Alfred Station, Cody Prince of Alfred Station, Carson (Katie) Prince of Woodstock, Ga, Caleb Prince of Woodstock, Ga, Caden (Amy) Prince of Alfred Station, Amber Prince of Alfred Station and Colten Prince of Alfred Station; five grandchildren, Venora, Lavera, Tamira, Soleena and Peyton Palmer; three sisters, Kathy (Larry) Wilke of Clinton, Conn., Lisa (Ron) Brewster of Forestville, NY and Jennifer (Rob) Carrick of Huntingdon, Pa; several nieces and nephews; an aunt, Marie (David) Zamboitti of Brocton, NY; and an uncle, Anthony (Judy) Marino of Fredonia, NY. Friends will be received Alfred-Almond Bible Church on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held, in place of Sunday morning's worship service, on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 10:30 am in the Alfred-Almond Bible Church. The Rev. Richard Tintle, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Galeton, Pa. will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Alfred-Almond Bible Church Memorial Scholarship Fund at 6751 Route 21 Almond, NY 14804.
