Phillip Ray Frable, of 3100 Cranberry Road, Apt. 11, died on Monday, November 20, 2017, at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness.

Phil was born on Aug. 12, 1931 in Olean and was a son of Max and Gertrude Jackson Frable. He was a 1950 graduate of Olean High School. Phil studied television production at the Television Workshop of New York in New York City.

Phil worked for the Exchange Bank before enlisting in the US Army. He served in the Army from June 17, 1952 to June 3, 1954. While serving in the Korean War, Phil received the Bronze Star with Valor for Heroic Achievement.

Phil went to work at the John Rogers Production Company of Fostoria, OH in 1951, where he directed stage variety shows, historic celebrations and historical reenactments. He became President of the Rogers Company, which moved to Pittsburgh, PA in 1975. Between 1955 and 1993 he directed over 470 productions in 47 states.

Phil was a life-time member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, the Olean Barbershoppers and the Olean Little Theater. He was known for his quick and gregarious personality and will be missed by many.

Phil is survived by; a brother, Merrill A. (Muriel) Frable of Olean and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Phil was predeceased by; 2 brothers, Paul J. Frable during World War II on Nov. 12, 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge and Charles F. Frable on July 26, 2012; two sisters Barbara Ann Langer on June 11, 2008 and Martha L. Schnell on Nov. 3, 2010.

Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 6 Leo Moss Drive, Olean on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Marie A. Meeks, Pastor of the Bethany Lutheran Church, will officiate. Full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892 ritual team. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery, Veterans Field of Honor, Olean.
