Ethel L. Thompson, formerly of Cuba and Franklinville and most recently the Pines Health & Rehab of Olean, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at ECMC following a brief illness.
Ethel was born on Jan. 19, 1926 in Portville and was a daughter of John and Laura M. Lockwood Taylor. On May 21, 1966 in Sugar Grove, PA she married her husband of 40 years, Raymond E. Thompson, who predeceased her on Aug. 25, 2006.
Ethel worked as a CNA at Cuba Memorial Hospital and then the Machias Nursing Home. She and her husband ran the Machias Hotel Restaurant for a period of time. Ethel also worked for various families as a nanny in the Olean and Cuba area. She enjoyed being a member of the "Red Hatters" of Attica, playing bingo, and doing word searches. Ethel also enjoyed going out to eat.
Ethel is survived by; 14 children; Gary (Sandy) Thompson, William (Delores) Rhodes, Douglas (Janet) Rhodes, Robert Rhodes, Joseph (Beverly) Thompson, Richard (Cindy) Poore, Raymond (Margaret) Thompson, Gail Thompson, Colleen Thompson, Lori Barrett, Tracy (Jerry) Isaman, Kelley (Randy Zimmerman) Thompson, Merle Hadden, and Phil (Melinda) Thompson; Many many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; a close and dear friend; Elaine Isaman; and extended family; Doris Fiske and Sandy Schuyler.
Along with her loving husband, Ethel was predeceased by; 5 children; Ramona Woods, Diane Strong, Linda Becker, Barry Thompson, and Caroline Mervine.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Jon Ward, Pastor of the North Park Wesleyan Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery.
